First Frost Raffle
Senator Dan Hughes (44th Dist.) introduced LB820 to the [General Affairs Committee] to permit raffles on weather events. The Committee combined the bill with two others to become LB970. It was a priority bill for the committee and sent to the floor. Senator Chambers filibustered the bill as there were not enough votes for cloture. The bill was then pulled from the floor. First Frost Raffle is dead for 2016. [Brackets are mine, Ted Tietjen]
There is a survey on the MD38 website. We also had a survey filled out by those present at the NLF meeting to help the committee move forward. [Results of the survey are attached]
Life Insurance Estate Planning
The Committee is requesting an experienced [insurance] volunteer to give us advice on how to move forward.
When someone purchase items through smile.amazon.com, 0.5% (1/2%) of the purchase price (not including shipping, taxes, or other additional charges) will be donated to the registered organization of their choice. Amazon wants an official representative to be an organization administrator. They will receive e-mail from Amazon. The foundation bank account information will needs to be sent in as well. Amazon will then start depositing donations to our account. Thank you to Jessica Riley for bringing this to the committee’s attention.
Dennis Hull Fellows Award
At the next NLF meeting we will discuss additional recognition of Dennis Hull Fellow and there clubs.
